The Path Near The Ahwahnee Inn

Here is the view after you pass the Village. Across the meadow is the Ahwahnee Inn, the best accommodations on the Valley Floor. Halfdome looms closer.
On the right is the bike/skating path, separated from the road by a curb. The mountain of granite on the left is called the Royal Arches. The image is a bit overexposed, but the dark region over the white region is overhanging rock, carved by thousands of years of glacial flow.

Halfdome still had a thin sickle of snow along the base of the face.
